Alvin Jamal Shareef (Resident Imam | Director of Education/Instructor) is the Resident Imam of Masjid Al-Halim of New Medinah. The New Medinah community was first established in 1987, and Alvin Shareef has been its Imam for the majority of those years. Imam Alvin was Resident Imam of the Hattiesburg (Mississippi) Islamic Center before families moved on to the land in New Medinah. Imam Alvin was Resident Imam when Believers moved into a nearby facility until the first masjid could be completed. With the help of Allah (SWT), the masjid and school opened its doors in 1991. With the assistance of believers from the New Medinah community, from New Orleans; Gulfport, Biloxi, and Jackson Mississippi., the 64-acre community of New Medinah was established.
Tauheedah Madyun (Board Advisor | Instructor) is a Muslim sister who is the wife of Imam Saleem Madyun, a mother of three sons (two living) Osaro and Rashad, and Imam Rasul Madyun of Washington, D.C. (1976-2006), and an educator for 30+ years. She is a member of Masjid Al Mu’minun in Memphis, TN and serves on several committees, and is a member of The International League of Muslim Women, Inc.
Khaleelah Hasan (Board Advisor) is a registered nurse with over 40 years of experience. Currently, Hasan is a faculty member at Louisiana State University Health Science Center (LSUHSC) School of Nursing in New Orleans. She teaches Community/Public Health Nursing and Nursing Research to undergraduate and RN students seeking to acquire a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Degree. Her career began as a License Practical Nurse (LPN) in 1972 and she subsequently received her Registered Nurse (RN) Diploma from Charity Hospital School of Nursing in 1984; Baccalaureate of Nursing (BSN) Degree from Dillard University of New Orleans in 1988 and a Master in Nursing (MN) Degree from LSUHSC School of Nursing in 2006. Hasan holds RN licensure in the states of Louisiana and Mississippi and has been inducted into Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society.
Rashidah Z. Hakeem (Board Advisor | Librarian) is a retired educator and librarian. Since retirement in 2005,she has worked as a volunteer with New Medinah Schools, taught high school social studies and english at Al Iman Academy in Mobile, AL and participated in hometown youth organization projects. She enjoys reading, gardening, playing and teaching piano; and writing songs. Rashidah has a Bachelor Degree in Music Education from Jackson State University and a Master Degree in Library and Information Science from University of Southern MS. She has been a member of the New Medinah Advisory School Board since October, 2008

Lynne Muhammad (Board Member | Instructor) has worked in the field of education for over 33 years. She began at the Clara Muhammad School in Chicago, Illinois teaching elementary and high school math and science classes. In 1988, she co-founded Muhammad’s Developmental School, located in her home. She taught classes, developed the curriculum and conducted professional development classes until the school closed due to personal concerns. After earning Type 9 and 10 teaching certificates, she began working for the Chicago Public Schools, currently teaching honors biology at Whitney Young Magnet High School. In addition, she is the owner of MAD Discoveries, a home based – enrichment program allowing inner city (potentially at- risk) students an opportunity to engage in inquiry-based science activities.
Donna Ali (Board Chair | School Administrator) has over thirty years of experience in accounting and management. She earned both her B.S. in accounting and M.B.A degrees from The University of Southern Mississippi. Since graduating from USM, she has held several positions, including Internal Auditor for Bancorp South, In-Charge Auditor for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi-Medicare Division and Financial Administrator for the Regional Transit Authority in Dayton, Ohio.
Judith Hafeeza Mahmoud (Board Member | Secretary) has been in the secretarial field for over 30 years. She attended the Minneapolis School of Business and various clerical and business courses. In the 1980’s she volunteered with the Clara Mohammed Memorial Educational Foundation in Chicago, Illinois. A charitable non profit organization that provided scholarships to needy and worthy youth by running a resale shop and having banquets honoring positive leadership. She also worked part time and was a volunteer at the Clara Mohammed School in Chicago, Illinois where she performed clerical and a variety of duties.
Rashad N. Ali, MD, JD, FACOG., (School Board Advisor) Dr. Ali received his medical degree from The University Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi in 1985. He then completed his internal medicine internship at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio and residency training at Eglin AFB Regional Hospital, Eglin AFB, and Florida. Dr. Ali completed his OB/GYN Residency at Keesler Medical Center, Keesler AFB, Mississippi, in 1992 and served as Chief of OB/GYN Services 5th Medical Group, Minot AFB, North Dakota, until his return to Mississippi in 1994. He received a law degree from Concord Law School in 2005. He joined Family Health Center in August 2006 as Chief Executive Officer. Since Dr. Ali’s arrival, Family Health Center has continuously expanded and is currently serving patients at 5 locations. Dr. Ali has over 20 years experience in OB/GYN and is a highly skilled surgeon—leader in the introduction of innovative technologies that help women get needed diagnostic and restorative services.
Sabir Abdul-Haqq (Board Member | Webmaster) A native of New Medinah by way of Hattiesburg & Chicago, He went to the University of Southern Mississippi following a track in technical writing. His first actual position in the field was as Technical Director for the University Activities Council, where he was responsible for audio-visual needs, event technical assessments and execution, and website authoring. He'd begun using his talents in the Jackson area for a local nonprofit as a technical trainer for community organizing work. He later channeled those abilities by co-founding an organization focusing on grass roots voting rights, where he focused his talents on communications and implementing using technology as a organizing tool. Today he works as an IT Support Analyst for the University of Mississippi Medical Center at its Grants Ferry satellite clinic. He resides in Jackson with his awesome wife and three sons, and there's never a dull moment.
